SCM Life-cycle Seminar

Stormwater Control Measure Life-cycle Seminar

The Colorado Stormwater Center offers a two-day seminar to bridge the gap between engineering and operation of stormwater control measures (SCMs). After years of offering the SCM Inspection and Maintenance course across Colorado, feedback that was received identified the need for bringing design engineers and maintenance and inspection personnel together. With this new seminar we walk through the entire life-cycle of SCMs including design, design review, installation, inspection and maintenance.  In this seminar style workshop, we begin the first day by bringing everyone together to discuss the purpose and function of different SCMs being used in Colorado such as extended detention basins, rain gardens, and permeable pavements. During the afternoon of the first day, engineers and inspection/maintenance personnel will split into their respective workshop sessions where they will receive specialized training for their topic of interest. Day two of the workshop will begin with a short session together initiating the conversation of how engineering and maintenance activities can support each other for correctly functioning SCMs.

All participants will attend a group field trip where real-world applications of the topics will be discussed while providing opportunities for engineers and maintenance personnel to work together to continue to solve challenges in the SCM design and operation process. After completing the field trip, participants will return for a certification exam to demonstrate comprehension of the covered material from the two-day workshop (optional). Participants that successfully pass the written exam receive certification from Colorado State University Extension and are recognized on our website.

Who Should Attend: Government (city/county/school) design reviewers, engineers, maintenance, and inspection personnel, landscape architects, landscape contractors, design engineers, MS4 managers/ coordinators, municipal planners, property managers, homeowner’s association managers, etc.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests must be made in writing and received by the Center no later than seven (7) days before the date of the training in order to receive a refund (less a $30 cancellation fee). No refunds will be issued after this date.

**The Center reserves the right to cancel the course no fewer than 7 days in advance if the minimum number of workshop participants has not been reached.
