HOA & Landscaper Resources
Bilingual Resources
The Colorado Stormwater Center provides a variety of free bilingual video training courses and opportunities for homeowner’s associations (HOAs) and landscapers to receive Colorado-specific education on green infrastructure, extended detention basin care, rain garden installation and rain barrel installation guides.
Green Infrastructure Overview
In Colorado, like much of the West, communities must be prepared for climate extremes on both sides of the spectrum – from drought to flooding. Localized Green Infrastructure (GI) strategies are climate resilient water management solutions that can help manage stormwater runoff while providing a host of additional benefits including increased access to green space, reduced heat island effect, improved improved water quality, increased habitat for pollinators and wildlife and groundwater recharge. Thank you to CDPHE and Northern Water for sponsoring this training.
Incorporating Rain Gardens into Landscape Projects
Rain gardens are beautiful gardens, full of native plants, that are watered only with the rain once established. Adding rain gardens to your next waterwise landscape project will reduce your water bill, conserve water, manage drainage issues, increase the beauty of your landscape, and protect water quality. Join us to learn more about rain gardens, their benefits and how to keep them looking their best. Thank you to CDPHE and Northern Water for sponsoring this webinar!
Extended Detention Basins
In Colorado, the most common type of Stormwater Infrastructure used is the Extended Detention Basin (EDB). In many cases this type of stormwater infrastructure is owned by HOAs or commercial properties. You may own, manage, or maintain a property with an Extended Detention Basin! Join us to learn more about how to identify these systems, how they function and how to keep your costs low by regularly maintaining them.
Residential Rain Barrels
Rain barrels are the perfect addition to your home gardens! They allow you to conserve water, expand your gardens, and protect our rivers. In this webinar with Jessica Thrasher you will receive information on what type of rain barrel to buy and step-by-step instructions on how to install your rain barrel(s) at home.
