Channel Protection Volume

Is it necessary to calculate Channel Protection Volume for a positive pipe network that discharges into a recharge basin? The recharge basin has no outfalls and can detain upwards of a 100-year storm event. This calculation seems more pertinent to a situation with a natural channel or a recharge basin with an outfall to an existing channel. Please help me clarify this. If someone could respond soon that would be great.

Based on your description (100-year volume detention and no outlet structures), I do not see the need for calculating the channel protection volume. Not only will the CPV be less than the 100-year volume, but the fact that the basin recharges all captured runoff up to the 100-year means that it is inherently providing downstream channel protection.
